We are planning on coming to Belize in September for our honeymoon.

We were looking for somewhere secluded on the beach, just to relax, maybe something with private huts/cabanas.
We're interested in snorkeling (sp?) and relaxing, but fishing/scuba is not a main interest of ours.

Any recommendations? I'd just like to hear thoughts from those who had actually been there, rather than a travel agent who had heard about it.

In advance, thanks for your input.

If money is no object, you might consider Cayo Espanto. It's on a postage-stamp size island just to the west of Ambergris Caye. The resort has four deluxe villas, each with a splash pool, your own personal butler and all the modcons like cable TV, VCR and stereo. Meals are included and are served at your villa. Really nice, and really expensive (starting at around US$600 per night per couple, meals included.)

A bit less pricey is Mata Chica, on North Ambergris. Very stylish thatch cabanas, highly decorated. Good restaurant, upscale Italian and other dishes. No pool, but good swimming from the dock.

Both are quite romantic and offer privacy.

The Capricorn would be my choice!
About a mile and a half north of San Pedro, 3 cabanas, great beach bar and incredible restaurant. Have a look at their website.
Really reasonable too.
