The Government of Belize issued an announcement today declaring the island of Ambergris Caye a "Drama Free Zone" from February 9 - 13, 2007.
Asked to define "Drama Free" the Honorable Said Musa indicated that he will "vigorously defend the right of certain high-profile American visitors to enjoy food, drink, and conversation in San Pedro Town without the fear of being burdened by petty human prejudices and quarrels."
No one would comment on what prompted such a proclamation. San Pedro Town is known for its unique culture of friendly people, fines establishments, and impeccable weather. The thought that this ideal setting might be tarnished by misplaced drama seems unlikely.
"It's a pre-emptive strike," commented Musa.
