Hi Kelly,

Caye Caulker has a range of accomodations from "back-packer" to condos. There is a place called OJ's Oceanside. It is spartan but reasonably priced. There is the Iguana Reef Inn, which is super, but has a higher price tag. There aren't many good beaches here because there is no "surf" (we are behind the reef. But you can swim off of the piers. Food is cheaper there than at Ambergris Caye. The atmosphere is very slow paced. Laid back little town with sand streets and very little traffic.

Perhaps if you check out or one of the other servers fro Belize, you will find more info. I know that Iguana Reef has a website:

Good luck,

We stayed at the Tropical Star (YUK!) The first night it was late by the time we went to bed when we realized that they hadn't changed the sheets from the prior customer's stay because they were sandy. The office was closed by that time so we shook the sand off as much as we could and slept on top of the bedspread. The next day, when we came back to our room at about 5 p.m., they still hadn't cleaned it. During our 3 day stay, they never swept the floor or cleaned the gross bathroom. The water stank, which-from what I hear is a problem with a lot of accomodations, so we showered with our mouths TIGHTLY closed. I guess, what do you expect for $15US a night. Next door at the Rainbow, their rooms looked decent. We could have changed hotels, but we were gone most of the time, and kept expecting things to get better. When arrive at Caye Caulker's main pier, most of the budget accomodations are to the right, on the main street. Lots and lots of places to stay.

The absolute best food we had on our entire vacation was in Caye Caulker at The Sand Box. The conch fritters are to die for. Spicey, but out of this world. Absolutely fatastic menu.

Have to agree with Debbie about The Sand Box. Great selection, terrific tasting food. Don't forget to go to Cindy's for breakfast, yummy homemade yoghurt with fruit and granola and fresh toasted bagels. Best coffee on our whole trip.

See and email Wendy of Caye Caulker Travel & Tour at

There is no snorkeling from the beach anywhere on Caye Caulker. It
is all seagrass beds. Main pier is just next to the Seaside Cabanas and is
great for snorkeling and swimming.

Sandbox is across from the street from Seaside. Cindy's is closed and will
re-open September 2000.

Great snorkeling trips are available to the Hol Chan Marine Park and the
local reef. Reef trips are $12.50 U.S. for a half day trip to $25.00 U.S.
for a full day trip.
