hi,i,ll be hanging around san pedro for awile very soon, was hoping someone could share their knowledge of what type of government photo i.d would be available to me as an u.s. citizen who enters belize on a 30 day visa planning on becoming a temporary resident and eventually a permanent resident under the retiree program.i would also need to establish an address in belize so i could give the bank a belizian address.these 2 requirements are necessary for me to prove legal residency in belize in order to change the residency registration i have with neteller.would i need to be in belize city to do the banking then hang around san pedro to enjoy myself as i wait this process out.any advance info would make my upcoming experience much easier, thanks

Even with a photo ID you still cannot open a Belize Bank account. If you are from the US you will need 2 letters of reference from stateside banks. There is no such thing as a temporary resident, you are either a resident or a visitor until your residency is approved. That process can take up to 2 years or more unless you are a resident of the commonwealth from what I am made to understand. And under the QRP program you are not a resident, only a permanent visitor, so you do not have residency status. Makes a difference to many people.

Lawyers and International Services companies offer an address for mail forwarding and other reasons.
A PO Box can be rented, join the waiting list.
Make one up, and pick up your mail at the local post office (as most of us do anyway).

Start at Ruby's low cost, on the beach, centre of town, close to most real estate offices.

Are you a professional poker player? I know a few who are looking for ways to get their money from Neteller because of bs from Congress. If you are, let me know how this works out for you, because a few of my friends are PULLING THEIR HAIR OUT!

i will.neteller requires a scanned copy of my visa to prove residency and a bank acct in my new country of residency which shows an adress in that country.i feel i have made some progress in my understanding of what needs to be done but when i hit the groung i,m sure there will be obstacles to overcome.namely,it will be easy to set up an ibc and linked bank acct but will neteller accept that type of acct, they are not answering phones and i,m lucky to get a half ass email response thats vague at best.not much for me anymore in the states,i may very well stay down here.spending first 2 nights at radisson ft.george and look forward to hitting princess casino poker game.will then hang around san pedro and get certified, tired of always taking resort courses.everyones nice on this forum, much different than majorwager
