the ANNUAL cost to sponsor a child in school is $500us. This covers everything, school, books, uniforms, food, and even taking them to the dentist. This is the ONLY school on the island that feeds the children for lunch. Anyone wishing to sponsor a child is welcome to contact the Chamber or her directly at: [email protected]

Francis also gave us the cost of just daily transportation of one handicapped child for the year at $360us. This is over and above the school expenses. Being the only school that offers Special Ed, for many of these children it is the first time they get to leave their homes, much less actually have a chance for education. If any of you would like to sponsor their transportation it would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to consider their complete cost of $860us, that would be phenomenal! Francis sends her love and prayers to everyone that has made this school possible. Francis also wants to make sure to let all of you know that ANY amount of support is welcome.

Last I heard (Jan 07) San Pedro Social Club had about 10K still in the US bank - seems like this would make good use of those moldy funds. Of course, the funds may be priorly committed.

I would suggest that Francis gets her students and teachers/helpers to clear the garbage which surrounds and is under the school-apparently she is under the missapprehension that cleanliness is not next to godliness but I and others think that the garbage is a huge health hazard to the students and teachers of the Anglican school.Remmeber those who help themselves get.............................

Peter, for the second time, I agree with you. And I hate it when I do that. I have repeatadly ask for information from the Holy Cross School and their subs, with no responce. I cannot disperse funds without knowing where the funds are going and who its going to. In responce to "Havinfun", we have moved over $10,000 ( not moldy) US to a Belize bank, with the same charge that I insisted on in our charter, and that is to aid the children of San Pedro. We (the SPSC) are having discusions/debate on how to best use these funds.

If anyone in San Pedro would like to apply for these funds, or a portion of, I would invite you to contact me. I can be reached at 512-667-6658 or email at [email protected]

PS, Be very careful in your comments; you know who.

I tried to email directly but for some reason it would not go through. Please consider the San Pedro Town Library for some funding. We are a bit different from other groups in that we provide services for ALL the children in San Pedro. We loan books, do one on one tutoring, provide public supervised access to computers and computer classes. We do charge $3.00 for a library card. All of this is at no charge, other than a library card. Every dollar we raise goes to books, supplies, art supplies, and much more. Volunteers tutor and provide classes. Come by and check our our adult selection as well. Our librarians salary is paid by the National Library Service and we raise all other funding. Any questions, please give a call to the library and Irecella Acosta will get you in touch with a board member. Thanks for your consideration.

If I had a vote on where to give this money it would be to the 10 or 12 (maybe more) Special Ed kids program, as mentioned in Marty's post.

Put that money to work as soon as possible, not later.

Would be good to see the benefits working, instead of the on going debate.

Peace and Love
