The budget government revenue came in for 2006 at $650 million. Our eyeball budget estimate forecast had been between $620 and $660 million, so we were in the ball park.
The government revenues budget for 2007 is between $700 to $715 million by eyeball estimate. Government has already planned to spend the full years budget already at a figure of $703 million announced by PM Musa.
Nearly ALL the REVENUE of government is going to pay government salaries, pensions and interest payments for the National debt, even at a reduced interest rate just re-negotiatied. Which points out that the GOB or PUP have to cut the size of GOB more and if possible FREEZE hiring.
There are no RESERVES in the budget for floods, hurricanes, earthquakes or mud slides. No Emergency Trust Fund. There is no 10% for Foreign Reserves building. There is an excess of $60 million budgeted that will have to pay ALL other government expenses from ink and pencils to computer repairs and telephones and any infra-structure that is planned to repair or start. Which points out a needed increase in GRANT writing in the Department of Finance.
