I will be coming to San Pedro on April 20th and I was thinking of not making reservations past the first night, here why. We will be spending a few nights at the Lamania Outpost lodge and we will need to watch our money while we are at San Pedro and I would rather spend my money on diving instead of a fancy room.
I have considered Ruby's but I have heard it is loud at night and do not always sleep well.

So am I crazy to not have reservations, I also havent schedled my dive trips?

What are your recomndations on cheap lodging?

Is the Lamania Outpost Lodge worth $600.00 a night?

Thank you for any and all honest responeses.

I like Spindrifts on the cheaper side of lodging. It's in town and a bit quieter than Ruby's.

The Lamanai Lodge has the most expensive restaurant in Belize-good food but it is like paying to eat in four seasons-lodging I reckon I have the best deal in san pedro-kingsize bed or two twins/high pressure showers/tv/air con/wifi and free internet all for around 55usd per night-added to this the bar is great fun

Pedro1 forgot to mention the pizza and the poker. The pizza is great, and a few times a week he and a handfull of friendly assistants are willing to teach others how to play poker. If I remember right the poker lessons were about $55usd also. The pizza and the poker were worth every penny.

The $600/night at Lamanai Outpost Lodge includes meals, transfers and tours, and isn't it for a 2 night package? My rate sheet shows $340/nt for room only for the most expensive room. Very nice place and in a unique location. Worth it if you are into wildlife, Mayan ruins, unique experiences. Very well run.

There are lots of inexpensive places on the island for the rest of the time. Probably do not need reservations for April 20 and onwards. Come and look around - Ruby's, Martha's, Pedros, San Pedrano, Tomas - lots of choices.
