Do any of the restaurants and/or shops accept credit cards? I am trying to determine how much cash we should bring.

Also, what about travelers checks.

Do we need to convert our US$$ to Belize$$, if so where is the best place to do that.

Can't wait to get there, we fly in on Monday!--nat

I just got back last week from 10 days on AC, Nat. Never had a problem with any $ situation. Every shop/restaurant/dive shop I went to took credit cards. As for cash, I started out with only US $s (no travelers checks). It's 2 BZ dollars to every 1 US. I was given change in mostly BZ, with occasional US thrown in. They'll even take a combination of US & BZ for any cash transaction you make. Street vendors will take only cash though (US & BZ are both OK with them). Enjoy your trip!

I agree with Waterbaby, I too have just returned, and found her report to be true.
Traveler's checks, you must be careful with, and not get them wet. Credit cards and cash is the way to go. The exchange rate is the same everywhere I found. Have the best time for all of us that had to come home.

Provident Bank will give you 2.05 on large exchanges.

Nat, Sounds good! We're staying at the Sunbreeze and will probably be at BC's for happy hour Monday evening. (I know this because of all the wonderful information on this board!) Can't wait! ;-)
