Actually Peter, that is not the whole story. Always remember that whenever a child is killed by a dog, an adult human is at fault. In fact, the woman who was in charge of the dog (not her dog) and the child (she was the grandmother) is being prosecuted for manslaughter for allowing this dreadful accident to happen. I am no apologist for irresponsible dog owners who allow their animals to be out of control - quite the contrary, but I do think it is silly to follow the alarmist 'tabloid' style coverage of dog bites, dog attacks and dog fatalaties (which are thankfully very rare in the UK). Dogs can't be good, bad or evil (those are human traits), but they can be owned by good, bad, evil (or in most cases when these things happen), downright stupid humans.
