I will be coming down to Ambergris Cay to fish later this year. I have two windows of opportunity: The last two weeks in October, and the first week in December. I'll mainly be chasing bonefish with a flyrod, but certainly wouldn't mind taking a shot at permit or tarpon. A look at some of the posts on this site as well as at other weather websites suggests it can rain like the dickens for long periods of time in October, but that cold fronts and wind can be a problem in December. I plan to spend five days fishing, which means I won't mind if I have to spend a day or so killing time off the water to wait for adverse weather to pass. But I'd hate being washed out or blown off the flats for most of the week, and wonder if one or the other is distinctly more likely in the time periods I am considering. I know nobody can predict the weather, you take your chances wherever you are and whenever you go, and that hurricanes hitting Belize are rare but a possibility even in late October. All that aside, can anyone offer guidance? I've gotten some helpful advice, but wonder if any Ambergris veterans or residents can help me make a decision. Thank you in advance for your help.
