This looks like the place to get good info on AC, I'm considering two hotels, Bananas or Seven Seas, one at the edge of town, one futher south. I"m conerned about noise at night in town, should I be? Thanks

Neither of those places are near enough to town to be bothered by town noise at night.

We just got back from staying at Bananas for over a week. It was nice and quiet. The rooms were very clean and the daily maid service will even clean any dishes you accumulate. If you stay there request an ocean front room. The beach bar next door an Mata Rocks is great.

There were mainly families and couples staying there (and a few students from the medical school). Have fun!-nat

Thanks for your input Nat, did you find that Bananas was too far from town to walk at night battling mosquitoes? WHat kind of rate did they give you?

Don't worry about walking!! Everything is pretty close, and if you don't like walking everyone rents a golf cart. GREAT mode of transportation. I recommend Manchos near the beer distributorship.

The mosquitos got pretty bad for a few nights and it was just worth it to spend $5 for a taxi rather than get bit. Walking along the beach (rather than the road) is better, but sometimes they find you there too.

There are a few good places to eat near Bananas (maybe 1/3 to a 1/2 mile away). El Patio & La Magarita aren't too far and both were good. We had BBQ lobster at Banyan Bay one night when they had a beach party and ordered pizza in from the Bun Man. Also we took water taxis to Rendesvous and Capricorn for two special dinners.

I didn't miss having a golf cart and found them kind of expensive--but we are not really into the night party seen and thus didn't always go into town at night. We paid $90 a night at Banana (includes discount for staying at least 7 nights).--nat
