I looked at the sites that rent golf carts on AC and only one appreared to sell them according to the website.

I assume that most folks would want to buy one for getting around, ferrying groceries and supplies, etc.

Is is better to buy one on AC or the mainland or bring one from the states when moving?

Since sand appears to be the normal driving surface, is 4 wheel drive recommended? How about balloon tires?

THanks for any tips you can provide!

No 4WD golf carts available.
Big tires are good. Gas or electric available.
Best to buy one here. Several dealers with new ones, used from rental places or private.
You must have an island permit before buying a cart!
Dealers and rental sellers will get that for you.

How long does it take to get an island permit if you buy a new cart? and also if the cart is used?

I've heard as long as a year if you try to get a permit yourself as opposed to having the dealer get one.

It took me 7 months to get a permit on an old golf cart, but I would not pay.

Still drove it for the 7 months.
