I was in SP three weeks after knee reconstruction surgery. I had a brace that prohibited my bending my knee very much, and I must say it was very difficult to maneuver the sand and pot holes. But, with determination, and an arm to lean on now and then, I made it OK. I just didn't try to do anything too risky, and made a lot of friends just sitting by the pool or on a bar stool. A broken limb is not reason to not go. Just won't be able to do everything you want to do, but then, you wouldn't be able to do everything you wanted to do if you stayed home, either. The cart rides will be treacherous, so a little pain medication prior to the journey might be in order, at least until you see how he fares. Good luck!!

Thanks for the advice Sun&sand. That is the way we are looking at it. He will not be able to do all of things we had planned, butI think it is better that he goes. The trip is paid for so not going does not save any money and I think he will still have a lot of fun. I do wish we had booked a little closer to town but you cannot anticipate everything.
We are leaning towards having my parents stay on Ambergris Caye instead of heading to Cayo and staying at Chaa Creek. I just do not see ow he will be able to do anything at all when we are on the mainland. We were planning on the ATM cave one day and my wife and I are going ot do the Black Hole Drop. I think we will try to get a place much closer to town. Any recommendations. Does not have to be fancy, but a nice pool would be great.

Suggest the Sunbreeze. Should have no trouble getting first floor, and everything is right there.

How long is your flight? That is also something to think about. Just make sure that he gets up and moves around often to decrease the chances of getting a blood clot. Good luck and have a great trip!

I think Indygal makes a lot of sense. No matter how tough you think you are, once the pain starts you'll probably never get rid of it. Sorry to sound so negative. Good luck with whatever you do.
