MEXICAN PRESIDENT TO VISIT BELIZE LATER THIS MONTH

Mexican President, Felipe Calderon Hinojosa, is scheduled to make a state visit Belize later this month. President Calderon's visit will coincide with the Ninth Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Tuxtla Mechanism meeting in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. On Saturday, June 30, President Calderon will pay a courtesy call on the Governor General, Sir Colville Young, and will meet with Prime Minister, Said Musa and other Senior Government officials to discuss topics. These include border security, bilateral trade, cooperation between our two countries, education, the Belize-Guatemala relations and military assistance. Thereafter President Calderon will meet with the business community and will take part in a joint Belize-Mexico news conference. During his visit, Prime Minister Musa will confer on President Calderon, the Order of Belize distinction.***

***Kind of have to ask why on that one, has he done something special for Belize or are we just kissing butt?

Not just Calderon, but also Presidents of neighboring countries, I think including Uribe of Columbia. Its Belize's turn to host the Summit.

And Chavez and Ortega apparently.
The Mexican contingent is arriving in San Pedro with 5 Super Puma helicoptors.
No doubt the other leaders will be arriving in their gov acft.
There will be logistics problems and disruptions in lcl air traffic.
Hopefully, this convention will force the GOB to address the conditions/security of the airstrip area and the town in general.
Should be interesting.

Still gonna be foot and bike traffic across the airstrip while all this is happening? What happened to the fence maintainance?
