I have been here for 6 yrs on Caye Caulker and have never seen a scorpion, I have seen only one centipede, and the Boa Constictor that lives in the leaf pile in my yard I call him Slim is still too small to be any danger, about 5 ft long but only as big around as a silver dollar.

was raking the front yard at family home near Canuck's & raked up a black scorpion ~2+ inches long. We have plenty of scorpions here in Arizona, that black one was the largest I've ever seen.
OOps, sorry, that was on San Pedro, have not seen them on CC.

I think we are getting San Pedro and Caye Caulker mixed up here, are we??? I have seen all kinds of nasty critters in Belize on the mainland, but not on Caye Caulker, San Pedro is a much bigger place.

I've seen the following on SP: Scorpions (rarely, just pick them up by the end of the tail (the stinger) and escort them outdoors), Tarantula's (put your hand palm down on the ground in front of the them and gently push them on the butt, they will crawl into your hand and you can escort them outdoors), boa's (leave them alone they're not harming anyone, kill rats and they aren't poisonous), Croc's (don't feed them or pet them, if you do you get what you deserve.) Landsharks (frequent beach bars and ladies night, more trouble than any of the above (still pretty harmless but let us know if not and someone will take care of it.))

You come to Belize to enjoy the wildlife not worry about it!

Cali inna house! I'm up in the Bay Area. First time to Belize? It's beautiful and the people so lovely.

The thing to watch out for...sand fleas. Ruthless creatures! They're more of them in the rainy season. Bring some DEET (REI's Jungle Juice is the bomb), aloe, tea tree oil, and garlic supplements. This all helps.
