you should have a drivers license, the cost is at: //AmbergrisCaye.com/pages/town/quick.html#gol
(keep that on one line)
seems like its around $50 for $24 hours.
There are several places, Monchos, Cholos, your hotel desk can get them for you also....
they are fun! the kids love driving them too. my son is 16 and he really dug it. My daughter is 19 and she like it too, but she's been driving them for a few years now and the novelty has worn off a tad for her!
Needless to say, I rarely drive cause the kids want to!

Well Marty... Christmas IS just around the corner you know... I'm sure your son would love one parked under the tree this year... Denny

Rootsie We rented from Moncho's. It's across from Island Grocery and next door to the beer distributorship. I beleive we paid $250 for a whole week. It was a nice thing to have and I highly recommend it. In the heat of the day, walking can get a little uncomfortable. (Especially if you're prone to hot flashes like me....LOL) Of course walking along the beach at night is heavenly. If your cart broke down anywhere, you just call Moncho's and they come to where you are and bring a fresh cart. We had a flat, and it was nice to have immediate service. And yes, the kids love them. Ours loved driving around and seeking out other kids their age. Have fun. Debbie

We plan on getting a golf cart for the entire week. Is there a road around the entire island you can take them on? We want to check out the backside of the island too.

Imarquis, The entire island is made up of ONLY sand streets. The carts can go just about anywhere. There are VERY FEW cars on the island. But there are a few taxis and delivery trucks to look out for. This is why small children shouldn't drive the carts. Traffic rules would still apply. If you are staying on the far north or far south though, you may have to watch for deep sand and mud during rain. Many get stuck in these areas and most of the cart rentals don't want you to take them into those areas. Debbie

Here's an idea! Forget bout da cart and enjoy the benefits of walking in paradise. You will see much more. Your heart rate will get stronger. Your weight will shed. Your tan will deepen. And I will guarantee you that you will meet more nice people walking, than riding a golf cart. After all, golf carts are for the very young or very old, not us in our prime. PS. When its too hot to walk, its also too hot to ride a golf cart. I suggest you to go see Oscar at the Holiday Hotel, he may put on "The Eagles" CD, with Hotel California. And, it doesn't get any better than that!
Gone fishing!!

IMarquis, There is no "around the island" in a golf cart. You can go north or south, but to see the backside take a kayak...great trip. It's a good thing to rent a golf cart for about two hours your first day or so, just to get the layout of SP upon arrival. Then as BT so succinctly put it- hoof it! You will meet so many more people when you stroll the town .... and believe me, they're all worth meeting. Have a BLAST!
