What is the facination with traveling to paradise, only to ruin it with a costly and cumbersome device better left on the golf course. Why not walk that beautiful beach? You've got the time. Even the locals get in on the act. They work hard all week, get together on Saturday, get all their money together, so 8 of them can ride around the island on Sunday, waving to each other. I guess its their money and it is not my business. I've been going to San Pedro for 15 years and haven't found it necessary to rent a golf cart once. I have rented taxi's to haul furnisher, ect. Help me out here, what am I missing? The beauty of Ambergris caye can be seen best at a leisurely pace on two feet. Meet some new friends, talk to a local, lose acouple of lbs, work on that heart rate. The island is only 25 miles long. Take a walk, see for yourself, within a week, you'll be thinner, tanner and healthier. Take care. Got to get some french fries.

Bill: Wasn't that you hitchhiking everywhere on other peoples carts? Maybe you can get a job as poster boy for the cart rental companies...

That was Bill, hitching, I heard, but he had an excuse, working so hard on his place.

Yo Bill,
I'm already thin and tan, but have also rented a golf cart .... fancy that! My advice to new tourists is to rent a cart for an hour or two to acclimate themselves. I have a feeling few tourists would have knowledge of Sweet Basils or Palapa if they had not rented a cart. On return visits, we all hoof or cycle, but let the newbies have their chance to explore.

I too suggest you rent a golf cart for half day, and explore the south and north ends.
We found this to be away to know the surrounding areas of San Pedro. I sure could not have walked that far in a half day.
Thereafter we walked everywhere and enjoyed it very much, visiting with people and exploring the shops and restaurants, for the next 6 1/2 days.

You guys are too soft. One can walk as far as Playa del Carman to the north or Caye Chapel to the south, if ya wake up nice and early. And as far as me hitching rides on carts: 1. it doesn't count as renting and 2. some certain blondes need help to keep out of the ditch and I, offer my assistance to help navigate. This is what I do.

LOL....good one Jesse!
*shaking head at Bill*
Now Mr. know the real reason you like to walk here is because you just have nothing better to do than meander around town checking out all the pretty girls! You might miss some if you were going at golf cart speed. I think you use that hitch-hiking gig to lure pretty women who own a cart into taking you and your heavy baggage out to Laguna Punta!....LOL [Linked Image] Maybe even invite them in to see your Pepto Mismol Pink walls.....LOL
Just Razzin' ya! [Linked Image]
So are you walking or driving in St. Louis?
Behave yourself and get back here soon!

No thanks in this world. Bill spends alot of his time away from St Louis, helping those pretty blonde ladies in San Pedro with their golf carts, and no one appreciates how much time that takes in his busy days. Bill I know it is a dirty job, but someone has to do it, and you are THE MAN. They think you just want a free ride, but it is work for you. lol lol lol lol

Yes Chloe, it is quite a burden. But I always remember, when that burden seems heaviest, as in the case of keeping little Miss Sifting Sands out of the Crock craters, that who else can do what I do? No one, because I really don't know what I do or why? Only that I MUST.
