I have just spoken with Vivian from Rojo Lounge (Casa Azul) and she said that everybody is ok up North!
They have lost their dock, so has many other neighbours up North, they and Mata Chica have not much damage. The roofs (palapa) are still there, there is a little water damage, but other than that is all fine.
There is still no power on the North side of the Island, which probably will take a few more hours.

If anyone has some news from Portofino and Jan (my husband) please let me know, as I'm in Belgium and I'm very worried!

Lets just pray that there is minor damage on the Island so we can all go back home soon!

GoHawks, I tried calling Glenn & Colleen about 1/2 an hour ago but they did not answer their cell phone. They didn't stay in their home/restuarant but instead stayed with some friends in a concrete home. I'm sure they're fine. The Island was really spared.

I'm happier than a pig in s__t...a foot on the sand...and a Belikin in my hand!

Wow! Fantastic job, French Buettner! Thank so much for the info! Glad to hear they're safe. It's quite a relief. My best wishes and happy thoughts to them all.

Technology when it works is sooooo cool. Marty, get this: I (in St. Louis) get news about friends (in Belize) from a kind stranger (in France)after a hurricane. Is this what Al Gore envisioned when he invented the internets or what?!?

Marty, a lot of people care. Lots of crossed fingers and lots of prayers also. Weather channel and CNN just don't make the cut. Thanks Marty,

Been there, done that, the washing machine ate the T-shirt

Hi Marty, message from my sister - Rosemary Smith - she has asked me to let you know that Greg, Daniel and Tellen weathered the storm at Sueno del Mar and have emerged safe and sound. There has been a bit of damage to their property, and apparently the dock from Tranquility Bay is washed up outside their house! Rosemary and baby Kerry are in Houston, having arrived there this morning from England.

From me personally, Marty - a huge thank you for running such an informative and community spirited site. I have felt close by even though I am thousands of miles away. Kind regards, Fen
