My husband is uncomfortable with small planes, but the flight is so short 15 to 17 minutes, and the view is so great, he has managed to handle the flight, since I also explained, we would have to spend the night in Belize City on arrival, and catch the water taxi the next day to Ambergris.

my friend chloe could have taken the words right out of my mouth. hubby still clutches my hand (done it r/trip twice) but cant help gawking in spite of himself - 100 shades of blue/green. piece of cake, these pilots do it 20 times a day, literally, and its like a trip to the market for them. i felt better than in the 727. trust me, no problem. if you still dont believe, on belize part of this board (see top)there is a big post on this subject. i think its that post, i'll check later, if not its on belize.net. all your answers for both plane and boat are there, hot topic. the girl opted for the flight in the end [Linked Image]

Have to agree with Chloe and Jane..I am terrified of small planes(and flying in general). While we will be experiencing our first flight from Belize City to AC in 9 days,we did fly from Cancun to Cozumel about a year ago,and it is probably about the same.Although I white-knuckled it all the way, it is not bad, and the view is wonderful! About the same distance(and the free beer on the flight didn't hurt, either)! He will be fine!

Of course you can get a beer in the bar at the airport, which will be interesting in itself. Last return flight, my hubby not being comfort, was last man on, and had to sit in the co pilot seat, and then I was afraid he would touch something he should not. He actually felt better being up with the pilot. The flight is great.

Both my boys had their knees knocking in fear when they watched the small plane land and pull up. My youngest was white as a sheet, but once in the air, they had grins from ear to ear.

When my husband and I flew on the small plane from Cancun to Cozumel last year, the pilots stood up the entire flight!

I've been on the WT that leaves from the marine terminal and across from it, but I've never been on the one that leaves from the Bellvue(?) Hotel. Both of the taxis I went on were pretty much the same. The boats hold about 40 people, they cram you on all the way around, and there is some space for luggage storage on the center. You might want to bring some plastic garbage bags to put over your luggage, or some other water protection, because you will get sprayed, and your luggage too. Maybe water isn't your concern, it was mine, because I had original watercolors and limited edition prints in my suitcase and I didn't want them ruined. Other than that it wouldn't have mattered. Either way, via water taxi or the plane, the ride is a blast. Hopefully it won't rain! Its part of the adventure.

Being a "newbee" and looking forward to our first visit to AC I was quite interested in this topic. - One very interesting point made by Mary and Scott - Did you say FREE Beer?

How can we make this short flight last for an hour or so?

Several years ago while flying from St Kitts to Nevis it was raining quite hard. The 3 folks in the rear of the plane got soaked! Plane leaked a little - but then who really minds?

Looking forward to January/February and really like reading this board. -LOL
