We're newbies to AC and are planning our first trip for next August. I've got a group of 7 adults and am looking for a four bedroom, 4 bath vacation rental for the week. I've seen a wide range on-line, but wanted to know if anyone has any advice or if anyone has rented before.

Also, is it better to stay north of town or south?

Thanks

North or South is a big debate - search this message board for many opinions.
What are you going to do?
Dive alot? Eat Out? Nothing? North or south is how close to town or far from town you want to be.
Active or Quiet Adults? There is something for everyone.
Tell us what you seek and maybe you will find it.
Belize it!
Four bedrooms, four indoros sounds like alot for San Pedro!

We are a mixed group. Five of us are divers, four are not. (Our group has grown by two since my last posting. So I guess I am looking for a five bedroom now.)

I know we will want to spend some time in town, part of our gang really enjoys going out for dinners and having drinks and listening to the local bands.

Everyone is pretty active, but they all like spending some time every day on the beach watching the water.

And I Belize, I reall Belize.

If you are interested in options other than houses check out Banana Beach. They have suites comprised of a bedroom, bath and combined kitchen/livingroom area and you can add more bedrooms (each w/ seperate bath, small fridge & TV), up to 4, I think. Each bedroom has a balcony/patio and the front suite faces the ocean. Full breakfast is included in the price, two pools, nice beach, great bar and a travel shop on site that will arrange any tours you might want. About a mile south of town, easy walk along the beach w/ lots of bars to stop in and visit. Definitely one of the best values on the island.

I can never remember which is better . . . safe? . . . or sorry?

We always include golf cart rental in our travel budget. It is a fun way to zip around and a day exploring with the golfcart is always an interesting trip!

Walking a mile in the hot tropical sun along the beach is easier relaxing and stopping for refreshment than it is trying to get some place with heavy gear to carry - especially more than once a day that is why I like the golfcart route!

By the way Pool or no Pool? Banana Beach has a courtyard pool - great for shade but not view IMO ps No Elevators on island

Also many places with good snorkeling off the docks, Amigos Del Mar, Ramons. Victoria House etc.... so the non-divers might want masks & snorkels for shore swimming. Stop for a refreshment & a snorkel just to jump in!

Stayed here nice, no pool, quiet close to town/ in town south near Ramon's

Always wanted to stay here - would want golfcart though
quiet and bird sanctuary

I've heard this is a fun place to stay and close to town south

Two of the best deals on the island but not quiet right in town
next to Amigos Del Mar Dive Shop
stayed here rustic with nice upstairs porch & fridge no pools

ate good breakfast here

Also Loved the night dive at Hol Chan with Amigos Del Mar the dive shop we use

Breakfast at Estelles Dine by the Sea in the middle of town on the beach
BBQ on Beach & Lion's Club good deals. Shore Lunch awesome experience
Also save $$$ by keeping drinks & snacks in your room!

Check with Roger & Susan at http://www.ambergrisvacationrentals.com/

They have some beautiful condos available at Bermuda Landing.
