We are looking at Belize for a March/April trip, does anyone have any suggestions on a good hotel. We normally go to Cancun every year but thought it was time for a change and Belize was recommended.

Linda,
This will be quick..it's Friday and I'm going home to have a martini. There is a HUGE difference between San Pedro and Cancun (you probably already figured that out). I'd read the home page about the island, geography, things to do, etc. Then figure out what kind of place you want to stay in. Resortish, condotel, private house and so forth. The lodging page will be great help. Pick a couple that fit your interests and post back for opinions. This can be a very candid bunch, and you will get good input. Including the whole North of town--South of town thing. We've been there March/April for the last few years..wonderful time to go.

Welcome Linda! What type of accomodations are you looking for? I would suggest that you go back to the main page of this site and then go to Lodgeings. Marty has a page for just about every place in San Pedro. Once you pick out a few you are interested in....then come back and ask about each one. This board is full of info and people willing to answer questions. We look forward to seeing you!

Linda, I agree with everyone about looking at the lodging page. Something about every place on AC. We have stayed in about 4 different places and I recommend all but 1....well maybe all but 2. One was a little too rundown and the other is too overpriced (but nice enough). Once you know your price range and things like pool/no pool, AC/no AC, distance from town, etc., this group will help you narrow it down...no problem. AND it definitely is NOT Cancun...or even Cozumel.

I've been looking at some of the hotels and so far I've liked the Mayan Princess, Sunbreeze, Princess Villas. I want something close enough so we can walk to town at night. We usually hang around the beach during the day.

WE picked Sunbreeze for our stay in June, and loved it, location was great for all the shops, restaurants, bars, BBQ's, airport, and casino. Can walk easily to everything. I would say in price range it is in the middle. Aqua Dive shop has at least one great guide, Enrigue. I have stayed north at Journey's End and loved that too, but it is truly two differnt stays. I love the local people, and wanted to mingle this last trip.

chloe, does the sunbreeze have a beach to sun on, per se, or does any hotel in town, like JE does? that is what i wanted to do too (as ya know) and why i did JE this time, for the beautiful beach. sunbreeze does have lounges by the pool, yes? do you get the breeze there? my impression is the rooms are nicer (& cheaper)at the sunbreeze than JE, am i right?

Linda, we leave in 4 days for our 1st trip to AC and have previously been to Cancun/ Mayan Riviera many times.Chose the Seven Seas d/t proximity to town and the equipped kitchen.Almost chose Mayan Princess but they don't have a pool(a must for me). Sunbreeze didn't have a kitchen either, but who knows how much we will really use it? We are going to be scouting for future places to stay so will be glad to let you know what we think when we return. Our e-mail is [email protected]

Thanks, since we go to Cancun every year this like starting all over, trying to find a good place to stay. My boyfriend wanted to try some place not so commercialized but still had the beach scene, we go with another couple so my job is finding the hotel to stay at(not a easy job). Since the hotels are not that big I thought we better start looking if were going in March/April. I will be interested in your trip, you can e-mail me at [email protected] when you get back.
