Been quite a while since we've posted (although I read the forum every few days to stay on top of things!) and now I'm getting on with a question that has nothing to do with Belize. But I value all of your travel experience!

Hubby and I are planning our next trip for March, and this time are going to do a driving trip down thru Akumal and Xcalak and play in that region.

I've managed to find flights that save us about $100.00 per person and many hours of time, but only give us 2 hours and 5 minutes in Mexico City before our Seattle flight. Normally I wouldn't even consider this. I'm kind of a freak for giving enough time for "issues" to work themselves out if necessary and still not miss a flight.

Who's been through Mexico City customs on the way into the US, and what's it like?

You don't go through customs, you have already been through...when you arrived into Mexico. You will clear US customs wherever your plane lands first.

The Mexico City airport isn't all that big (kinda small) for being one of the largest cities in the World. Two hours will be plenty for arriving into Mexico and clearing Mexican Immigration and Customs. The flight out of Mexico City to the Yucatan coast is very impressive.
