I read somewhere on this board about a festival of sorts in Ambergris Caye right around when we were thinking of going. Now I can't find that post. We were considering Feb 2 to Feb 9 of 2008 but read that it may be difficult to find a hotel...

Carnaval!!! You will find a hotel just fine, just don't wait until right before to book.

Carnaval is celebrated the days leading up to Fat Tuesday (day before ash Wednesday) Here are some of the fun and exciting things that go on. The major day/night of celebrations and partying will be Tuesday Feb. 5 this year.

See you when you are down in Feb! I noticed you will also be in Caye Chapel to golf, you'll enjoy both places and Canaval is a fun time to be down.

I didn't realize Feb. 5 is Fat Tuesday next year. We'll be arriving in San Pedro that day. Is there a big Carnaval celebration there?
