Tammy Peterson, leading the Cleanup Campaign for San Pedro, has requested that the Chamber consider providing trash barrels like we did several years ago. Once we receive the “regulations” that the Town would require for their use and the cost, this issue will be presented to our Board. If approved, we will be asking for your help in sponsoring this project. Like last time, this would be available for businesses, individuals, or for any member that would like to sponsor a barrel or barrels for a specific school, park, or any other area or organization.

Wasn't this issue addressed months ago? How long does it take the Town Board to determine what the "regulations" would be. In the mean time trash swirls at Central Park during Independence Day ceremonies and at BC's during the Saga Fundraiser because there simply are no trash recepticles to be found. What's wrong with the big blue or black plastic barrels.

The trash barrels (50 gals blue and black) were about $50 each. Sunrise Realty bought a couple for an area by the primary school. When the tiny little orange trash cans were erected our donated barrels were crushed and thrown in the trash! They could have been used in another area.

The tiny little orange trash cans are insuffient for the amount of trash generated each day. Some are cleaned out once a day, but many are not. So now the trash is piled up beside them and overflowing from them.

Unless this plan is thought out thoroughly, sufficient strength and sized bags provided, and guaranteed pick-up ensured - it will be a waste of good money.

Yes, Amanda, and many of them simply disappeared. Hopefully this is being addressed. I know it has been brought before the Town board.

Oh, I am sorry for not doing this earlier -

Tammy and her road gang are definitely making a difference. Although it is disheartening to clean up an area, and then have it looking trashy again within a week, slowly but surely more and more people are going to realize that they don't have to live surrounded by trash.

Fantastic Job Tammy and her gang!!! Thanks a lot.

I would be happy to sponsor a barrel. I echo Amanda's post regarding the orange cans. I do not remember the one by Marina's store ever being empty.
