Hey all, What's the scoop on fishing for snook if we are staying on AC?? My boyfriend is dying to catch one (or as many as he can get!!!) since his parents moved from Florida, he's had no opportunity, and he was really hoping to have some luck in Belize. Does he have to go inland to a river?? Thanks in advance for any info. Eva

I believe that the snook are caught on the mainland in rivers, check with Elito Arceo in San Pedro, I think he has taken people snook fishing before. Maybe someone else has his telephone #
Reality..What a concept!

Sorry not going to get any snook at AC. You are either going to have to go inland to the rivers or talk him into going for bonefish in the flats. I went with my son and caught a bunch. They are a lot of fun to catch but he is going to have to let him loose because you ain't gonna ear em'!

I had always thought that snook was strictly a river fish until I saw them in the mangrove waterways south of Ambergis Caye. Then I've heard stories of snook being caught out on the reef! Maybe they visit the reef just like we do?

Thanks everyone for your Snook insight (please keep it coming)!!!! On that note, other than Elito Arceo (any clues as to how to get in touch with him?) if anyone has a fabulous fishing guide they would like to reccomend, please do so...Wayne (my wonderful fishing boyfriend :-) would like to make reservations ASAP before we go. Thanks so much.

You know, you might want to wait until you get to AC to book fishing trips. It will not be any problem...believe me. That way, you can talk to people and get suggestions about who to use, etc. once you are there. Maybe even talk to the fishing guides to see who offers exactly what you want. We have always had great luck with the fishing down there and with all the guides.

Eloy Gonzales 026-2337 he is a nephew of Gil Gonzales. He is a great guide and others on board have been with Gil. They are a great family and you will not be disappointed if you give them a call. Gil is located next to Hustler Tours and they are very nice and honest people. By the way I own a restaurant in St.Augustine FL and I have farm-raised snook on the menu tonight.

Sounds good Zeke. Maybe Rick and I can make it down there (over there?) sometime to try it out. We usually only take vacations in the Carribean or to Italy to see our daughter, but who knows? One day we may go somewhere closer to home...LOL
