Bay fishing right around the Cullen House area. 6 trout 3 reds and 1 25" skipjack (ladyfish) that was an exciting battle. I too am disappointed to leave the valley but my job is in Austin and the bill collectors don't want to hear about my love for the Valley and especially the Lower Laguna Madre.

The Valley, Laguna Madre, S. Padre Island are our treasures. I love this area, been here 23 yrs, thought I had died and gone to Heaven. Then found Belize and that is Heaven. I wish I could be happier here, and stop dreaming of Belize. I am glad you caught fish, that 25" is great. Have to tell you a 5 ft (stark) shark story later.

Hey Chloe: Ya catch a 5 ft Stark? Never heard of that species, it sounds like it's real thin.

Ok it was a 5 ft shark. I did not catch it, a fishing buddy of my husband did, and they were in a small john boat. LOl Now you are helping SS correct our typo, Thanks.

Hubby is heading down your way this morining. I wasn't able to make the trip with him. He has a boat and will be out on the Laguna Madre all day tomorrow. Also stopping by the preserve on South Padre. Meeting some turtle people I think. He loves it there as well. Says it's the closest he'll get to the flats in Belize. Wish I were coming with him.

Pescador!! I lived in Austin for years. Not like it used to be. I lived on North 183 at Balcones and Spicewood. Moved there in 1976. 183 was just two lanes. My parents built a beautiful stone house in Spicewood and it was on a dirt road. That house now sits in the middle of a sprawling subdivision. Capital of Texas Highway had no bridge over the "river" and MOPAC only went from 183 to Ben White. Ha!!! Went back there for a funeral a few weeks ago and got so lost I cried...... Have you lived there long?????

I work very close by where you lived. @ 183 and Duval. I've lived here for about 5 yrs. but I'm ready to return to the Valley. Hopefully I'll relocate to the Valley within the next 5 yrs.
