The Yellow-Backed Mayan Oriole

This is a "Icterus chrysater" Roger Peterson called the one he found in British Honduras the Mayan Oriole. all the modern bird books say its a Yellow-Backed Oriole. I say Yellow-Backed Mayan oriole to its friends! Everybody likes dog food.

Amanda Syme	We always call those banana birds. What IS a banana bird then? Do you have any pix Elbert? Thanks A ps. we also see a bird similar to this one but it is orange and black - guess they are related....

elbert OP	Yes , There cute aren't they, and quick! I on a quest for a photo of one now. We have a slightly different one on Ambergris that doesn't look like the book its called the Cozumel Bananaquit.
