I had a business in Memphis Tn. back in 1980 it was at the corner of Madison ave. and December 7th st. Just for entertainment I would ask people visiting, even though I knew, 'why was the street named December 7th st.'. I Couldn't ever get anyone to say why or what for about the name.

Being ex-navy, and a WWII history buff for awhile, this day always makes me start thinking about Pearl Harbor. One memory is always of the early 80's when we visited Hawaii and naturally had to tour the monument. We(wife and 2 friends) stood there, watched the little drops of oil bubble up, looked at the plaques, and then looked around at the other 15 Japanese tourists on there with us. A different time, a different place and circumstance. A blessing on them, and all our boys and girls in uniform at this time.

EVER. I've been to Nagasaki and Hiroshima and the north of France. War is bad, bad, bad, for all concerned. No one knows this better than the warriors, yet we must have them at the ready.

Hey Bobber,
We may have been on the same boat out to the Arizona! We did a week cruise around the islands in 1984 and then 3 days on land. I still tell people about the same, erie feeling, watching the short movie showing the awful attack and then sharing the boat out with many Japanese. Seeing the shean of the slowing escaping fuel oil as it comes to the surface.
I came to the same conclusion you did -- can't blame the kids for what their folks did. But it was still an interesting trip.
Oh, went on Google Earth this morning and finally found the memorial and when I zoomed in -- at a certain altitude -- you can clearly see the etire USS Arizona under the water. Over 1000 men still inside her!!
God Bless America
