Is anyone in SP into running?

I used to belong to the Hash House Harriers in Amsterdam, and wondered if there was any interest in starting an informal running club here.

To give you an idea of what it's about, if you don't already know, it's slogan is 'the drinking club with the running problem'.

Someone (called the 'hare') lays a trail of arrows and crosses in chalk, flour or another substance which washes away after a few days. The runners follow the trail, but not at breakneck pace, which leads past two or more drinking holes. The idea is to enjoy yourself, get fit, and socialise. Drinking is not mandatory.

I used to run a lot but stopped after a bad foot injury. "Fell running" in the hills and dales of England was my favourite. Be aware that the soft sand you'll be running on here is quite unstable and the risk of injury is quite high. But many seem to run, or maybe that should be jog, without any problems.

I've been running on the shoreline without any real problems so far. It's compact but it has a certain amount of softness. And I've found that running on the hexagonal cobbles in town causes my ankles more problems than the sand...

Its real hard to measure distance since the shore path snakes back and forth and the maps are crow flies. I miss the organized runs and triathlons I used to participate in when I lived in the states.
The upcoming event date motivates training and puts the pressure on to get out and get prepared so you don't place embarrassingly low in front of your peers.

Story told around here: Back when the locals saw the first gringo jogger running up the beach..they all thought he must have been a "teef" (thief).

Hash House Harriers in Amsterdam is a Drinking Club?

Perhaps they should meet in SP at the Ganja House, where they can drink Coffee!!!!

I'd happily join either club though, but I'd stay away from The White Line Sniffers in Miami, where they don't use flour or chalk!!

There's a chapter based in Belmopan. They run in other parts of the country sometimes.

That's great. But i'm not going all the way to Belmopan just to run for an hour or so. I can do that here in SP - was hoping to find other likeminded souls, but no matter...
