My wife and I have a condo nearing completion
"Grand Caribe" and are wondering if anyone can
give us some advice about getting furniture....
all the appliances are there....is there anyone
on AC that puts packages together.
We sent 2 emails and made a phone call to Hummingbird
and got no reply to any attempt....after a visit last trip
I know there is Maribe (sp?)in Belize City...visited there
show room too...

Speak with your realtor, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Mirab for furniture. Hofius for appliances.

Mirab's really doesn't have much in the way of "Tropical" type furnishings. We purchased everything from Hummingbird. Very reasonable and good quality. You should go down to their showroom right on the Island. Talk to Elberto, he's been there for quite a while and is very helpful. They do give a nice discount for bulk purchases. "We sent 2 emails and made a phone call to Hummingbird and got no reply to any attempt"......welcome to Belize!!

We, too, purchased from Hummingbird with good luck. They always returned emails promptly, so I would say have some patience since it is still close to the holidays. I think they take a holiday break and closed up the factory last year until mid-January. At the showroom, talk to Hilberto.

We furnished our place ourselves, but others have had good luck with Island Interiors. Are Josie and Judy still doing that?

Feel free to PM me with any questions.

He's so nice, he would probably respond to either! He even let my friend try out the sleeper sofa while we talked furniture!

Mirab Furniture Gallery or Hummingbird is your best bet. Most of the other places are selling furniture that never sold in the 70s. Contact Josie Harding and see if they are still furnishing and decorating homes. They take care of everything and do a fantastic job.

If you want to furnish with Hummingbird furniture you would need to order fairly soon. I seem to recall it can take up to 3 months to have your furniture built and upholstered.

I think Josie is phasing out of Island Interiors - but if not her # is 226 2184

You can also try EXPO in the US - it is a subsidiary of home depot that specializes in house and condo decor and shipping overseas.

Mirab can order and import just about any furnishing you would like - again there will be a 2-3 month time lag on any of these options. Mirab specializes in Ashley furniture so you should be able to go to any Ashley show room in the US and then order the goods at Mirab.

Debbie Wade at Grand Caribe should be able to co-ordinate furniture buying, delivery and installation for you. Talk to the sales agent that sold the condo to you.

If all these methods fail you - send me an email and I will help get you lined out.
