Can anyone suggest what size fly rod would be good for Bone fishing. Any other tips are also welcomed.

8 weight, but to have fun, bring a 5 weight. You want an 8 or 9 for permit

Will be there starting Feb 15th. Was told to bring my 10 wt - is that overkill? Will definately bring the 6-7.

Got set up today by one of the local fly shop managers who fishes the area a lot. Tippet is matching weight fluorcarbon - not monofilament. In my case 1X tippet with 10# leader.

Get a 3-pack of RIO Bonefish leaders and a spool of 10# to 15# fluoro tippet material. That'll do you for more than a week. The 10wt is way overkill. If the wind is up to the point you can't throw an 8, go to the bar.

Will be bringing the 6-7, too. Will be using the 10 for permit and cuda. Appreciate the advice. Thanks.

Will your small rods have salt water reel seats?

I'll be happy to discuss my avatar with anyone who knows what it is.

Don - the 10 wt has a salt water reel, the 6-7 does not. Appears I'm getting a lot of misinformation from the folks up north here about rod/reel weights.
