I used my ATM card at the banks (Belize Bank in town and the other bank that is down the street from Exotic.) No problems. I have plus. The only thing is that my bank charged me international fees..which was not that much, but fees nonetheless.

Great! Thank you. Traveller's cheques are such a pain but didn't want to end up there without cash... This will be our first trip to AC (in May), any tips?

Is stuff expensive? How much for a hamburger, a beer or a rum punch? Just to get an idea....

Depends- BC's Bar seemed to be $3 Belikins & rum punch, maybe $5 for the "blender drinks", most places have generous happy hours, my only place of note was at Canucks: one round might be $20, the next might be $40.....

I just got my statement. A 1% fee was added on to all credit card purchases. Worth it for me.

I sit corrected on the prices, I guess the point is that drinking isn't expensive in any sense on the island. Dinner was anywhere from very inexpensive to not expensive at all, depending on where we dined that night. I have to admit not paying as much attention to prices as to the flavors.

Used ATM at Belize Bank with my BofA "plus". $5.00 charge for using the machine and a 1% transaction fee. I checked before I left so no surprises. Just plan for it.
