Hi-

My wife and I are going to go to A/C in November for our honeymoon, and we'd like something similar to Ramons, near San Pedro, but not as expensive.

We want beachfront, refrigerator in the room, a good pool and close to nightlife (live local music).

Any suggestions, especially with web site, would be appreciated - we want to save $$ to go on excursions!

Thanks!

Bill

(Also, recommended snorkeling/sailing trips would be cool!)

Finding an inexpensive Ramones is like finding an inexpensive Ferrari. I can't think of anything that fits your requirements. Paradise Hotel is simular to Ramones with the Palapa Huts, but no pool. The Hideway Hotel has a nice pool, but the rooms are small and the place has alot of "character". Rough along the edges. Coconuts Hotel is nice and so is Corona Del Mar, but again no pool. I would perhaps recommend Holiday Hotel, the beautiful old hotel on the beach in town. It has a rather nice beach front, but again no swimming pool. There are many great hotels too choose from, check out the lodging section on this web site. Congradulations, and good luck.

Bill is right about not finding a "cheap Ramon's" but the SunBreeze might be an option.

It's just up the sand from Ramon's, so the location is great. It has a wonderful pool, one of the best on the island. It's on the water, though there's no real beach. I don't think any of the rooms have fridges, but they are spacious if a bit motel-like. Around US$90 and up, depending on when in November you're there.

Another option is Paradise Villas toward the north end of town, but still walkable to everything. Pool, condo-style units, small beach. In the US$100-$125 range probably. Some owners rent direct, other units are rented by Tradewinds.

Mayan Princess in the middle of town is a terrific value most of the time, with one-bedroom condo suites. But no pool.

Try Belizean Reef. I will be staying there in 3 weeks and will be reporting when I return. It is right next door to Ramon's so you can enjoy their beach and bar/restaurant. It offers condos which look really nice and I've received good reports on it from the regulars on this board. You can access their website by going to the lodging section of this site. We got a one bedroom condo with fully equipped kitchen for $68 US per night. Best of luck to you.

We enjoyed our stay at Sunbreeze, and they will rent you a Refrigerator and coffemaker for a small fee. Location could not be better. Walk a few steps either way to walk into the sea. No beach, means they have a bulkhead in place.

Billsen,

The Sunbreeze or Paradise Villas are going to be a close as you can probably get. You can rent a refrigerator and coffee maker at the Sunbreeze for a small fee.

billsen; I agree with others that your best bet is "SunBreeze Hotel". It's about a block and a half closer to the center of SP. Note: You can still walk down and use the facilities and beach of Ramons.

And it was worth only 2 cents. Thank you for sharing.
