Can anybody tell us more on the requirements for obtaining permanent residency status, we're moving to San Pedro and we want to be able to work as self employed, maybe work for someone else too. Will investing in a house fill the requirement of becoming an investor? ( investors can get permenent residency status faster) Also how much money for deposit in Belize bank needed to meet the deposit requirements? Thanks!

Residency rules apply the same to all, unless you know the right people. And with the new GOB in effect, that is hard to do. You have to live in country for 12 months straight before you can apply. You can apply for a work permit as self employed and then get residency afterwards. Investors cannot get residency faster, that program died a long time ago. For the QRP program it is 2,000.00 US per month deposited into a Belizean Bank. You are asking about 3 totally different programs here, they are separate and distinct requirements.

LOL at $20,000.00 US per month no one will be able to retire to Belize under the QRP (qualifed retired person) smile

It is actually $2,000.00/month BUT you can not work if you enter under the QRP..

see http://www.ifsc.gov.bz/acts/retired.pdf
and another idea is

Do a search for previous messages for more info.
Best of luck in your ventures. Keep us posted.

If you are going for residency you are able to leave the country for no more than 14 days total within that year.

Immigration had me go home and get our last travel information to double check that we were not over our 14 days before she handed me the papers because it was not clear enough from our passport stamps alone. (save all papers like that you never know when you will need them)
