Hi all, I'm staying at the Costa Maya Reef Resort in two weeks for my fist ever trip to Belize! I'm super excited and very much looking forward to my vacation.

My only concern is the beach area at the resort. After reading some reviews on "Tripadvisor" I'm a little worried. It looks like there is a concrete barrier between the sand and water. But the pictures could be deceiving. All I want from this vacation is a little R&R and I plan on spending most of my days on the beach.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

There are 2 different spots where they have 3 (I think) steps going down to the waters edge. If I remember correctly there is also room for a couple of chairs down there. We've stayed here twice and will go back in Feb. 2009, I love it there!

We walked by there earlier this month. Yes, there is a small wall. But still lots of beach to relax. It probably wouldn't be ideal for young kids who want to mix water and sand for hours on end. They would have to go around the wall. But to sit and relax -- you'll be fine.
