Specifically, I am looking at Pedro's Backpackers Inn. Do I need to book ahead, or are there usually rooms if I just show up?

How about for any hotel in general?

In the country as a whole, June gets around 22,000 international overnight arrivals. That makes June twice as busy as September but one-third less busy than March.

Though San Pedro is always busy compared with the rest of the country, on average about half of the hotel rooms are vacant on a given night, so you can always find something. Off-season you may also get a better deal as a walk-in.

That being said, for a specific hotel especially during an event period such as Lobsterfest, it's a good idea to book ahead.

Good advice.

I am heading down on May 10th, I will have to see if my funds last me till lobsterfest, and more than that, if I could get an extended tourist visa.

You should meet up with us at BC's on the 12th at 4:30. A bunch of us from the forum will be there.

Now back to your regularly scheduled drivel...

You can't miss it, boreas. Just ask once you get to the island.
