Could someone please update those of us who were not able to attend how the town meeting went?

Were there any accomplishments?

It is my sincere hope that the hall was overcrowded and that it was made plain that "security" is but one of the major problems that AC faces, and that a problem solving planning committee was organized.

Very strange meetings.

At the first one held at the Lions Den on the 8th there were only about 20 people; three of whom were gringos, the rest mostly older time San Pedreans. It was an orderly meeting with mostly problems being brought up.

At the 2nd meeting held at the High School Auditorium on the 10th there seemed to be more than 100 people; mostly locals. At this meeting many, many solutions were presented.

At the 3rd meeting, last night, the San Pedreans who were vocal at the 2nd meeting were not there.. Again, there were about 100 people. The various law enforcement officials along with the Mayoress and Minister of Tourism made presentations and answered questions.

Three very different moods prevailed. Someone is going to send me a list of the suggestions made at the 2nd meeting. Now we can wait to see if anything was accomplished.

I believe that it is just another talk session and no action will be come out that meeting. Come on, how many times will we have to meet. 5 year will come and go and talks will still be done. We need action. WE NEED TO STOP TALK AND GET WORKING IF WE MEAN BUSINESS.

Has anyone given any thought to cops being given some more vehicles. It seems that might be a good use of the little money they have. I always see 3,4, or 5 officers in the SAME vehicle. That area being patrolled seems no safer than there only being one or two officers in the vehicle. It seems to me like they would be much better splitting up.

When I was a student at the San Pedro High School that was our motto. We used that motto to build the high school in its present location and the new auditorium.

Someone on the panel was able to tell us that murders in Belize aren't that bad...much better than the rest of Central America.

Very comforting.

Not bad at all...unless you're a victim.
