My name is Karen. I am looking for any information on how San Pedro is holding up. My husband and I are very worried for his mother and grandmother (Mary Stephenson & Jane McCarver) who are residents. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Our prayers are with everyone!

Karen, my parents are just down the beach from Mary, and I have not heard from them either. Did get a post that they had been in contact with my parents earlier today, but nothing since. I am sure that as soon as weather permits, Mom and Dad will check on them. If you hear anything please e-mail me at My parents are R.B. and Judy Mernitz at Casa Plata

Will be glad to do the same for you if I hear anything at all.

Radio reports winds at SPO down to 60 mPH, no loss of life but heavy

(I wonder if this is the eye passing. If they had easterly winds before, then
perhaps not)

Bze City and Corozal being warned to prepare for storm surge sometime

Frank Redmond

Ps they are just more recently having eastern winds...

I am a friend of Mary's and I spoke with her this morning about 11 or so--before phones went down. Mary and her mother were fine, up in Mary's part of the house weathering out the storm. She said that water was 2-3 feet deep behind the house from the LAGOON side seeping over. She must have had a roof problem as well as she said at the time that water was running down her kitchen wall. Remember that she is cool and smart and may run next door to another concrete building if she has roof problems.
Sorry, but that's the last contact I had with her or any of my friends down home.
