I am looking for affordable lodging, but will pay a bit more if it means I am not staying in a dump. I have seen many mixed reviews on places in San Padro and Caye Caulker. I am not that picky, but my wife would be very unhappy if the place was smelly, dirty, or had bugs/animals in the room. We are looking for Nov. 2, 3, and 4. I would like to find something under $100 a night that is on the water. Any suggestions?

Other activities we are interested in:
1) Renting bicycles to get around the island.
2) A good fishing guide. Don't need a flashy boat just someone that knows the area well, and can catch fish.
3) Snorkeling trips
4) Good eats
5) Any other don't miss activities.

try using the lodging and activities links above. there is a ton of info on this board's archives.

you have to decide, too, if you want to be in town, north of the toll bridge, or south of town...in or near the 'action' or remote, or somewhere in between.

let yer fingers do the walking...as all answers can be subjective.

there are many good places to stay, tons of good food, and many fine guides.

We are looking for in town around the action, and on the water. We have never been to belize before. Getting around would be a concern so in town sounds best.

The lodging tab is very helpful. It sorts the hotels by price and location.

Yes, I have stayed in that type room many times, overlooks the pool. Good choice.
