From a friend:
As I sit here trying to check email at Holiday Hotel, a couple of tourists check in, their normal tour guide joined them. Plans for fishing are on tomorrow! I LOVE IT!!
Things are getting better quite rapidly, and there are more tourists showing up each day. Things are not QUITE NORMAL, but close enough that visitors to our isla bonita are coming now, fishing, diving, and having a good time!

That is certainly wonderful news. 3 weeks and a sense of normalcy is beginning. Most excellent.

Could you post how the things are going for Caye Caulker? I see that is is taking more time to do the electrical repairs there but it sure would be nice to have another encouraging report.

Phone service and electricity is partially restored on Cayer Caulker. There are also many generators in use for the businesses. I don't know about the fresh water situation though. I'll be on the island in a few days and i'll let you know.

Hi Silkpainter: Remember me, Barry's friend. I've got a "lost" artist friend of mine, Kathleen Whitehurst, who owns a Tri-hull called Canario. It came to rest in the vicinity of Belican Supply in San Pablo, south of San Pedro. If ya have any time, look her up, ya can probably get directions at Belican Supply. I need to hear from her on conditions out at Dr Elmers Old Propety. I need Celestino Garcia or Kathleen to call me or E-Mail me, or 314-993-5209. Thanks for your consideration.

Gone fishing!!

Sandshaker  Offline know how resilient these people are here....LOL I'm sure everyone is ok...and making do with what supplies we have donated.
Somehow, I don't think Silk painter want's to trapse thru that mud back there to Doc Elmers place. It's not safe. Lots of debris covered up in that mud...tin, boards with nails, etc...etc.
Not to mention...all kind of funky things you can pick up in that mud that like to habitate under your skin....LOL

Now I read where the crocs have been displaced from the lagoon into very unusual places on the island, like Ramon's reported in the Ambergris Today paper.

I think it best if you played Indianna Jones yourself.....LOL Be sure and bring that cool hat! [Linked Image]
