It's official - I've totally lost my mind and abdicated all personal and mental responsibilities. Bought out the former Fido's Steakhouse and opening Nautica Seafood Grill & Bar.

Condolences, rolling of eyes, warnings of dire outcomes notwithstanding, really excited about it. Yes, I know I'm crazy. Have done a restaurant before and swore I'd never do it again but have to admit is my drug of choice. Yes, my crack cocaine. Canít help my self - Iím hooked. Donít even think about an intervention - just come eat there? Oh wait, that would make you an enabler. Oh well, are worse things...

Fido's south (Sandbar) is still run by Dave and Laura but is now 'disconnected' from Fido's main, they're former mgmt of the steakhouse which is/was upstairs inside Fido's downtown. Whole new deal. Hard to keep up with who's who in the zoo, huh?!

Congrats! I have a lot of respect for the quality of stewed chicken available...but when I'm that close to the water I expect more seafood! smile And a zoo it IS in slow times...lots of competition I'm sure, but hopefully the busy season more than makes up for it. Good Luck!

Congratulations and Best of Luck!
If you haven't read "Don't Stop the Carnival" by Herman Wouk (Musical by Jimmy Buffett), you should...you'll identify with every character and situation in it!
Yum, seafood. Wish I was there right now!

You should blog your experiences opening and running the restaurant.

There are lots of blogs on moving/living in Belize, but not many on opening and running a business in Belize.

One good one was by the couple who started Belize Jungle Dome near Belmopan, but after a couple of years or so they left Belize and put their place on the market (though it's still open).
