LEROY TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Chardon post of the Ohio Highway patrol is investigating a plane crash in Leroy Township. The crash happened at 6 p.m. Wednesday on Trask Road in Lake County. Patrol officials said the aircraft was performing a demonstration fly-by over the Pheasant Run private airport when the propeller fell off. The propeller fell to the ground, striking the runway.
The aircraft quickly lost altitude, and the pilot attempted to land in a field just east of the airport.
The plane struck several trees before coming to a rest in a wooded area. The pilot, Michael Toma, was not injured.
