Have you heard how tickets purchased before that that date including the tax will be handled? Will they be grandfathered in or will we have to pay the difference at departure?

Passengers traveling with tickets issued before October 1, 2008 will not be charged the increase in fees.

Here's the details:

Effective October 1, 2008 the Belize Airport Concession Company has increased the Airport Development Fee (ADF) to $36 BZE ($18 USD).

The following is a list of all fees for international departures:

Passenger Service Fee (PSF) - $30 BZE ($15 USD) - all passengers

Airport Development Fee (ADF) - $36 BZE ($18 USD) - all passengers except those traveling on a Belize passport, or holding a Belize Naturalization Certificate, Permanent Resident Card or Permanent Resident Stamp.

PACT Fee - $7.50 BZE ($3.75 USD) - all passengers over 11 years of age, except those traveling on a Belize passport, or holding a Belize Naturalization Certificate, Permanent Resident Card or Permanent Resident Stamp.

Security Fee - $2.50 BZE ($1.25 USD) - all passengers

Luggage Screening Fee - $2.50 BZE ($1.25 USD) - all
passengers

The total international departure fees will be $78.50 BZE ($39.25 USD) or $35.00 BZE ($17.50 USD) depending on the traveler's passport.

The domestic departure security fee of $1.50 BZE ($0.75 USD) will remain the same.

Great timing on the part of Belize Airport Consession Company.

The U.S is experiencing the worst Financial disaster in history.

Here's an idea. "lets charge them more when they leave here."

Wouldn't it make more sense to do something monetarily to get them there first?

Somebody said that the international air exit fee in Guatemala has been increased to US$45. I thought it was still US$30. Can anybody confirm it is now US$45?

Does anyone who is a resident or citizen run into an issue purchasing tickets online with airlines that already charge you the departure tax with the ticket ahead of time? Have you found any way to get the airline to refund the difference since they charge the full $35 US departure taxes in their tickets?
