I know that it is probably not the best way to ask for tech help but I am wondering what anyone might know about processes running on lap top.

My laptop has been a bit slow and I know it is time for a clean up. It froze up today and I did ctrl alt del to see if i could end some processes and cut down the load and I saw there were 60 running that seems high to me.

I would like to find how how I can lean which ones it is ok to delete.

60 processes is not abnormal. Download yourself a trial copy of Kaspersky Internet Security and run it on your system and see if that helps.

also look at the lower rt hand corner - see what is open and running that can be exited out of.

Start->Run

type "msconfig"

go the the startup tab. Deselect anything that doesn't look like your antivirus program.

You'll then have to reboot the machine.

A message will pop up when it reboots telling you that you've altered your startup - just check "don't tell me again" and click OK

What this does is turns off that rodeo or processes that have inserted themselves into your boot scripts. This does NOT delete the programs. If you want to run something, you can start it yourself.

This will undoubtedly help you. Good luck.
