Here's the most recent message I got from one of the Paradise Villas homeowners assn trustees, Bob Howard:

Dear Homeowners,

The trustees have received information about the status of Paradise Villas both through an initial report from Nellie Gomez and reports from the Tradewinds manager.

Everyone is okay physically. There were no significant injuries.

There has been only relatively minor damage to the buildings. The roofs appear to be okay. There are some broken windows and doors. One common problem is that the drywall ceilings in the upper unit bedrooms got wet and some will need to be replaced.

On the grounds, some plantings and trees were lost and other remain. The dock is okay except that the platform section at the end is gone.

On the island generally, electricity, water and telephone (and therefore e-mail) have been interrupted and are gradually being restored. Some wooden buildings suffered greater damage.

Nellie Gomez has suggested that individual owners not plan to send tourist
bookings for the rest of October, and that she hopes to have the property
livable by the beginning of November. However, a Tradewinds staff member is
going down this weekend, and they have not yet decided whether to cancel
their tours for the last 10 days of October.

Early next week, when we have additional information, we will provide a
further report. In the meantime, feel free to contact Bill Toonen, Pat
Fielder or me with any questions.

Sincerely,

Bob Howard
