What's the latest on Ambergris Caye? Is there still a curfew in effect? Bans on booze? I'm arriving 11/16 and would like to know. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!!

Go and have a great time. There is no shortage of booze, cold beer or great diving, etc. to b e had. I think there is a 1:30a.m. curfew, but we couldn't tell because things appear as normal as ever.

I agree. We just returned on 11/5. Some resorts are not open yet and some are not fully operational, i.e. ours did not have cable TV (but who cares?) and the pool was not ready until the day we left (of course!). Many places are still without phone service but other than that, you will find most all the bars and restaurants are in full swing, the diving and tours are up and running and besides lots of debris in places and still many displaced families, all is well on La Isla Bonita. The people are as friendly and charming as ever -- very thankful and basically undaunted by their recent thrashing.

Got back to the states 11/9 and on the 7th we were out past 1:30 and I think when we left the bar they were still drinking waiting for the vote to come in. We had to walk the whole town only a very few people out but the one police man we say just smiled and asked us who won.
