Citrus Products of Belize Limited (CPBL) has now been added to the list of workplaces that have joined the Ministry of Labour, Local Government and Rural Development in the fight against HIV and AIDS in Belize. They signed their HIV and AIDS workplace policy on November 6, 2008.
CPBL has been actively involved with the Labour Department in the fight against HIV and AIDS in the workplace for the past five years and are one of the first major employers who have workplace policies. The company has several peer educators who offer training to CPBL employees and who assist Belize Natural Energy Ltd. from time to time.
Signatories to the policy were Chief Executive Officer, Henry Canton; Union Representative, Robert Pabon and Labour Department Representative, Hertha Gentle.
Other workplaces who have HIV and AIDS workplace policies included: Pelican Beach Resort; Belize Citco; Belmopan Citco; Belize Tourism Industry Association; Chaa Creek Resort; Ka'ana Boutique Resort; Five Sisters Lodge; Blancaneaux Lodge. Several other companies are currently engaged by the Labour Department and will commence training in the upcoming weeks.
