Has anyone who lives on the island gotten the new dog passport? I posted last week under travel but not sure if everyone reads that section. Anyone here who has info on how to obtain the dog passport I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Your such an attractive sweet young woman I can't bring myself to make wise cracks, but it was close.

on the real side , yes i bought an international health record for Bubba and it in theory was supposed to be accessed when ever we crossed international borders and make the transition go smooth.
all they had to do was access his records in the computer at the boarder and we where in!.....Theory, you heard me say theory didn't you.
waste of time and money.

You need a valid import permit from the Belize Agricultural Health Authority (BAHA).

You can apply by email: [email protected] or fax: 501-824-3773 or 501-824-4889
i think they are on freetown road.

thanks so much for the reply Elbert. Was it recently you did this? I am very familiar with the import permit process with BAHA and do this already at least three times a year.

There is a new "dog passport" which they just started 2 months ago. It is a document you carry with you when traveling so you don't have to re apply for the import permit to enter Belize each time and the permit to exit Belize and enter the US.

What do you know about bringing a dog for the first time into Belize? Is the quarantine still carried out in one's home?

I am existing Belize for a few weeks with her and I have already brought Karmin back n forth 8 times.

I posted a detailed thread about bringing a dog into Belize which you can find under search. The only change is that flying on certain airlines you will now need the import permit in advance to show at the airport otherwise it you will get stuck and not leave the US (speaking from experience.)

Thanks! Where are you flying from and on what airline?

I went ahead and updated a new thread with the most current info for you. A few people have been asking lately so thanks for reminding me to update the info.

LOL, I just checked this thread you have "Updated Travel with Animals ", it was very informative. Thanks again..
We have land on mainland Belize and will be building next year, if all goes well, provided it does we will look to import two Welsh Corgi's, the thing is they will be pups, the details you entail are quite a few, I hope this applies to puppies as well.
