Are traveler's checks or credit cards of more use on the island. I plan on making several dive trips, a remote to one of the ruins, several dinners out, and groceries (there will be six of us).

I used a credit card for all of my purchases. It is widley accepted and you get a bit better exchange rate on a US dollar.

I do take some cash for tipping and smaller purchases.

Only difficulty is paying the bill.

Traveller's cheques are accepted by everyone. Suggest you get in $20 and $50 denominations.
