We are going to AC in January, anybody know what Ruby's hotel is like, or have any suggestions on budget hotels? Any suggestions for New Years Eve bash?

Never stayed at Rubys so I cannot help there but New Years in San Pedro is great. We partied into the new millennium at Ramons and had a great time. Holiday put on a big bash. It was great just walking the beach and stopping at the many bars along the way.
We'll be down again this year for the real new millennium. Hope to see you there.
Enjoy your stay.

Rubys is a great deal. Right downtown, nice clean rooms right on the beach.

Ruby's is cheap, quaint and a fun place to stay. I'm checking in again on 11/22 for the 3rd time. It's great being right on the beach and you can run right across the street for a Belikan to drink on the deck. Also check out their deli right next door in the mornings for fresh OJ, coffee, etc!

We stay budget at the Conch Shell Hotel. On the beach, private baths, great porch. Some rooms have kitchenette/fridge, you can save money on beverages and snacks. See their listing on this site under lodging.

stayed at rubys once. room was o.k., huge bed but not much else except for bugs(those little wood ants, no big deal). the proprietor of the hotel hasseled me about having a friend in my room and thats enough for me to say i probably wouldn't stay there again. but it is right in town and right next to celis restaurant which is an excellent place to eat. in a few months, when they get their rooms repaired, i would suggest the corona del mar hotel.

I'll second the Corono Del Mar suggestion.
